This Cookie Policy explains how krowd, Inc. ("krowd," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit krowdiq.com or use the krowd platform (collectively, the "Service"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides broader context on how we handle your personal information.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in or what language you prefer — so you do not have to re-enter it each time you return.
In addition to traditional cookies, we and our service providers may use similar technologies such as pixel tags (also called web beacons), local storage, and session storage to collect and store information about your interactions with the Service. For simplicity, we refer to all of these technologies collectively as "cookies" throughout this policy.
Cookies can be "session cookies," which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent cookies," which remain on your device for a set period of time or until you delete them. Cookies can also be "first-party" (set by krowd directly) or "third-party" (set by our service providers).
2. Types of Cookies We Use
Essential cookies. These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They enable core capabilities such as user authentication, session management, security protections (including CSRF protection), and load balancing. Without these cookies, the Service cannot be provided. Because they are necessary for the Service to work, they cannot be disabled through our cookie controls. Examples include:
- Authentication tokens that keep you logged in during your session.
- Security cookies that help prevent cross-site request forgery and other attacks.
- Session state cookies that preserve your progress through multi-step flows (such as event creation or attendee registration).
Analytics cookies. We use lightweight analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our website and platform — for example, which pages are most visited, where visitors come from, and how long sessions last. This data is collected in aggregated or pseudonymized form and helps us improve the design and content of the Service. We prioritize analytics tools that minimize personal data collection and do not build advertising profiles. These cookies are not used to identify you personally.
Preference cookies. These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience, such as your display preferences, notification settings, and whether you have dismissed certain in-app messages or banners. They make the Service feel more personalized and reduce repetitive prompts. Disabling preference cookies will not prevent you from using the Service, but some settings may not be remembered between sessions.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on the Service are set by third-party providers we work with. We do not control these cookies and they are subject to the privacy policies of the respective providers. The main third-party cookies you may encounter include:
- Stripe. When you view billing or payment-related pages, Stripe may set cookies to support fraud detection and payment security. These are essential to payment processing.
- Analytics providers. Our analytics tool may set a persistent first- or third-party cookie to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. No personally identifiable information is stored in this cookie.
We do not use advertising cookies or allow third-party advertising networks to track you across sites for the purpose of serving targeted advertisements.
4. How to Control Cookies
You have several options for managing cookies:
Browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings menus. The steps vary by browser — consult your browser's help documentation for instructions. Note that blocking all cookies will prevent essential cookies from being set, which will break authentication and most features of the Service.
Opt-out tools. For analytics cookies, you may be able to opt out directly through our analytics provider. If the analytics tool we use offers a browser opt-out plugin, we will link to it here.
Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites indicating that you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is no universally agreed standard for responding to this signal, the Service does not currently alter its behavior in response to Do Not Track requests.
Changing your cookie settings may affect your experience of the Service. Essential cookies cannot be disabled without preventing core functionality from working.
5. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add or change the technologies we use. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email.
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please contact us at hello@krowdiq.com.
